Building now closed – house in flames: fire brigades on a large scale

Date:

At 8.36 am the sirens sounded in Zwettl an der Rodl (Upper Austria). A fire probably broke out on the top floor of an old residential building in the town of Innernschlag. A resident (42) was taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.

“There are no people in danger. “Fire under control,” reports Herbert Denkmayr of the Urfahr-Environment district fire brigade command. According to initial reports, a fire broke out on the top floor of an old farmhouse that has been rented out for years. One cat was rescued, but there may have been other cats in the building.

Danger of collapse
The 42-year-old resident alerted her neighbor (51) that a fire had broken out in her apartment, who in turn called the fire brigade. When the Floriani arrived, the roof of the house was already completely on fire. The residents were able to save themselves in time, but the 42-year-old had to be taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.

A technical defect as the cause of the fire can most likely be ruled out. A candle or other ignition source was likely the trigger. Due to the acute danger of collapse, the building authorities have banned access to the house.
