The fatal industrial accident took place on Monday around 11:20 a.m. at a construction site in the Reichersberg municipality. The 45-year-old Slovak wanted to hammer the blind plugs into the still open anchor holes in the concrete wall on the second floor of an elevator shaft with a hammer. To do this, he removed the safety gate in front of the elevator shaft so that a two-meter ladder could be leaned against the inside of the shaft.
Colleagues heard the cries for help
This should have slipped while climbing and the 45-year-old fell about twelve meters into the elevator shaft. The man’s loud screams caught the attention of his colleagues, who immediately rushed to the rescue and called 911. However, the 45-year-old suffered such a serious head injury that he died at the scene of the accident.
