Asfinag will implement the requirements of the new EU Infrastructure Costs Directive next year. That is why the previous toll annual ticket is replaced by the so-called multi-trip ticket.
The following applies here: new name, usual service content. The multi-journey card can also be used for a period of 365 days, according to a press release on Wednesday.
It is no longer possible to deduct the annual vignette from the price of a multi-journey ticket. However, the prices for the relevant route sections have been significantly reduced.
To date, residents, commuters and frontline workers have received a free annual toll card when credited with an annual vignette. In the future, they will receive the multi-trip ticket for the price of a single trip at the relevant main toll station (one-off costs between €6.50 and €13.50, depending on the route).
What is the route toll?
At structurally expensive Alpine crossings, separate toll rates apply for vehicles up to 3.5 tons. There are such sections on the A 9 Pyhrn Autobahn, A 10 Tauern Autobahn, A 11 Karawanken Autobahn, A 13 Brenner Autobahn and S 16 Arlberg Expressway. On the routes between the individual toll booths, the vignette requirement that is otherwise common on motorways and highways is no longer required.
