The Repsol Toyota Rally Team has started the countdown to the 2024 Dakar Rally this Wednesday, and did so in a special way, going around the streets and the most famous points of Barcelona with the Toyota Hilux T1+ driven by Isidre Esteve and Txema Villalobos in the most extreme adventure in motorsport. In this way, the Spanish team wants to warm up the atmosphere a week and a half before the participants of the European Dakar – as new this year – take their cars from the Catalan capital to Saudi Arabia, where the competition will start in next January 5.
For the driver from Oliana (Lleida), this is his 19th participation, his ninth in a car, and with the same ambition and enthusiasm as before. Esteve is convinced that he has made a qualitative leap that will allow him to fight for the top 20 in the most difficult rally-raid in the world. If he achieves this, he will surpass his previous best result in a Dakar car, the 21st position he achieved in 2018 and 2019, and the 34th overall place (24th among cars in category T1) in 2023.
