According to media reports, Israel has again received a list of names of hostages to be released this Saturday. The families of thirteen hostages had been informed, Israeli online portal Ynet reported on Friday evening, citing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
Israeli officials confirmed that eight of the 13 Israeli hostages scheduled to be released on Saturday were children.
After the ceasefire in the Gaza war began, the first group of 24 hostages – 13 Israelis and 11 foreigners – kidnapped in the Gaza Strip seven weeks ago were released on Friday. Four of them had dual nationality. Prime Minister Netanyahu has set the goal of returning all people kidnapped by Hamas to the Gaza Strip.
First Palestinians released
In return, 39 Palestinian prisoners were released, including “women and children,” Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said.
As part of a four-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that began Friday morning, a total of 50 of about 240 Hamas hostages will be released. In return, 150 Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli prisons.
