Pure chaos on Saturday morning in Linz (Upper Austria). There was a wild mass accident on the busy Steyregger Bridge. Fifteen cars were involved and numerous people were injured. It was slippery on the bridge.
On the B3 into the city, about 500 meters after the Steyregger Bridge, a serious traffic accident took place early on Saturday morning, in which the bridge itself was affected.
The accident caused a major emergency
Ultimately, 15 vehicles were involved, which were parked over a length of 150 meters. The professional fire brigade of Linz, the police and several rescue vehicles from the Red Cross were present.
Five people injured
At least five people were injured. Traffic came to a complete standstill. The police investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. However, at the time of the accident it was slippery on the bridge and even the rescuers had difficulty staying on their feet.
Driver picked up by bus
A transport of the remaining uninjured motorists was organized by picking them up by a Linz AG Linien bus after being treated by the rescue workers due to the low temperature and taking them from the accident scene.
