“Treat strict” – Entire district for fear of youth gangs

Date:

In the Danube City, residents are afraid of young criminals. The neighborhood and the emergency services are warned. What is especially frightening is that the youngest perpetrator is only 13 years old.

At first glance, Raphael-Donner-Allee in Essling (22nd district) appears to be an idyllic residential area. But lately there has been fear in the quiet neighborhood. The reason: brutal youth gangs that harass, insult and threaten residents and passers-by.

Desperate cry for help
René L. turned to the “Krone” with a desperate cry for help: “We feel very unsafe here. There are always new incidents. How long is this going to last?” A few days ago there was an armed robbery in which three youths threatened a 15-year-old with brass knuckles and stole his shoulder bag. The youngest perpetrator was 13 years old!

Illegal fireworks
Property damage is common. Illegal fireworks are also shot off again and again. When asked, the police confirmed that there had been an increase in activities in the vicinity of the ‘Junge Box’, a youth meeting place supported by the city and the district, and that criminal offenses sometimes took place there.

The executive branch has therefore increased its on-site patrol service. Further solutions are currently being developed. The head of the Kungen Box, Katrin Daferner, says the city’s mobile youth work was involved.

District boss wants to take tough action
The next step is to involve the Fair Play teams. District leader Ernst Nevrivy (SPÖ) is concerned: “We will take tough action against violence and crime. There is zero tolerance for violent criminals!”
