The major fire on Saturday in a closed hotel on Nassfeld kept the Carinthian emergency services on their toes: it is now clear why the fire broke out.
A total of 17 fire brigades from four Carinthian districts were deployed to Nassfeld on Saturday to extinguish the roof of a currently closed hotel. The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but has now been clarified.
Damage of an as yet unknown amount
Officials from the LKA Carinthia conducted the root cause investigation in cooperation with the Vienna Forensic Science Department and the Fire Prevention Office of Carinthia. “This showed that repair work on the solar installation of the hotel complex had led to the fire the day before,” the state police headquarters said.
The hotel suffered serious material damage of an undisclosed amount.
