Around noon, a woman discovered the flames and immediately called the fire brigade. When this arrived, the wooden hut in Ebensee, Upper Austria, was already completely on fire on Thursday. About thirty Floriani fought the fire and were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the neighboring hut.
There are several cabins in the area that are used as storage or garages. One of them caught fire on Thursday afternoon. It was made of wood and was dry, so it caught fire immediately.
No injuries
“We were able to save the neighboring hut,” said Rudolf Daxner, commander of the Roith volunteer fire brigade, who brought the fire under control about three hours after the alarm. To specifically combat the fire, the wooden cladding was removed to extinguish any embers behind it.
And most importantly, according to Daxner, there were no injuries.
Third fire already
The Floriani then used the community van to move the remains of the burned out hut due to the risk of collapse. “A total of approximately thirty men and four fire brigades were present,” Daxner reports. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
It is the third cabin in the area to burn down during Commander Daxner’s tenure.
