A 32-year-old father from Steyr had to stop at a red light in Braunau on Friday afternoon. His wife, who is the same age, and the couple’s two small children were also in the car. Suddenly a muffled sound: a Braunauer, also 32 years old, who was following him, could not stop his vehicle in time and slid into the back of the Steyr family’s car, lightly touching it.

This literally sent the man from Styria into a rage: he jumped out of his car, started shouting, tore open the Braunauer’s door, grabbed him by the upper body, hit him in the face with his fist, threatened and insulted him massively. Meanwhile, several witnesses called the police, who arrived with two patrol cars. Even in the presence of the officers, he could hardly calm down and had to be warned.

During the interviews, the Styrian man denied that he was driving and instead claimed that his wife was behind the wheel. But witnesses quickly refuted this. The abusive father was then asked to take an alcohol test, and lo and behold: 0.7 per mille in the blood of the father of the family was enough to be charged with driving under the influence. There were also complaints about physical injuries, dangerous threats and failure to cooperate in establishing the facts.
