Date:

Dramatic scenes at the Krampus Run in Lofer (Salzburg) on Saturday evening: a man from Pinzgau was taken to hospital after a pyrotechnic accident. The event had to be cancelled.

They announced it as their “season highlight” on their Facebook page. The Ochsengruamtoifen invited people to the big Krampus Run in Lofer on Saturday evening – but it ended extremely abruptly after a short time!

A 24-year-old Krampus wanted to light off a firecracker shortly before punching his passport. He held the fireworks with his right hand against an already lit Bengal fire. The fireworks exploded immediately. He suffered serious injuries to his hand. The Red Cross took him to the accident hospital in Salzburg as quickly as possible.

The Krampus Run was cancelled. That evening the clean-up work began. During a local inspection by the “Krone”, visitors and helpers were deeply affected. “It’s so tragic,” was said again and again. The injured person is a young resident who is deeply rooted in local and club life in Pinzgau.

It’s the second terrible incident during a Krampus run in just a few days. It wasn’t until Monday that a Krampus fell out of a car in Viehhausen. The man fell several meters, rolled over and landed full force on the hard ground. He was unharmed.
