Driver injured – hundreds of liters of truck diesel leaked in an accident

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, a truck driver on the western highway in Upper Austria lost control of his vehicle and collided with a shock absorber. The driver was injured and taken to hospital. Several hundred liters of diesel ended up in the grass strip, which meant it had to be removed.

It is still unclear why the truck driver lost control of his vehicle shortly after midnight on Tuesday. The truck collided with a shock absorber on the ramp of the A8 towards Salzburg. The driver suffered unknown injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital.

Green strips had to be removed
During the course of the accident, the truck’s tanks were also damaged, spilling several hundred liters of truck diesel onto the road and into the ground on the grass verge. The fire brigade and Asfinag captured the fuel and cleared the road. The green strip had to be removed by a specialized company and the contaminated soil was removed. The driveway was completely closed during the work.
