Unfortunately, many traditional Styrian companies face this fate: After 85 years, “Gerstner Kindermoden” in Graz has to close permanently. Not voluntarily: boss Eva Tiefnig tells the “Krone” what led to her decision…
“After 85 years, we unfortunately have to close our store.” Signs like this one, which currently hangs in the door of Kindermoden Gerstner on Franziskanerplatz in Graz, have been found in many traditional Styrian businesses for years. “We simply could no longer run the company profitably,” explains Eva Tiefnig. She was the third generation to run the store, which specialized in traditional and festive fashion for children and was known throughout Styria.
