Deployment for the Florianijünger in Wörgl in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein on Saturday evening. A wood stove exploded in the apartment of a Slovak (68). Both the pensioner and his wife were injured.
The sirens in Wörgl sounded around 2am. The 68-year-old had previously lit the wood-burning stove in his attic apartment. “This may have led to a deflagration,” the researchers say. The Slovak immediately grabbed the fire extinguisher and tried to fight the flames. Meanwhile, the neighbors raised the alarm.
68 year old injured in face
“The building was evacuated by the Bruckhäusl volunteer fire brigade. Together with the Söll volunteer fire brigade, the fire was quickly brought under control.” The 68-year-old suffered facial injuries while trying to extinguish the fire. There was also a suspicion of smoke poisoning and that is why he was taken to the clinic in Innsbruck. His wife (52) was taken to Kufstein Hospital with minor injuries.
There was significant damage to the living room of the apartment. Further investigation into the cause of the fire will take place later on Saturday. The Florianijünger was deployed with six vehicles and 40 men.
