The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence is on Russia’s wanted list
Meanwhile, authorities in Russia have added the head of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR), Kyrylo Budanov, to their wanted list. The 37-year-old’s name appeared Thursday in a Russian Interior Ministry database of people wanted for violations of the criminal code. Authorities initially did not provide information about what they accused Budanov of.

Budanov has headed the military intelligence department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense since 2020. His influential organization is held responsible for several attacks on Russia since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Moscow accuses the HUR, among other things, of organizing the attack on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022, which connects the Ukrainian peninsula annexed by Moscow with Russia connects.

In November, Kiev accused Moscow of poisoning Budanov’s wife, Marianna Budanova, an adviser to Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The Kremlin denied the allegations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that “Ukraine always blames Russia for everything.”
