An 89-year-old from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district invested a very large sum of money in cryptocurrencies between February and December 2023. Unknown perpetrators may have even remotely accessed the woman’s laptop.
The investigation is currently being conducted by a police station in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district. According to the initial findings, the 89-year-old obtained information about investment transactions (cryptocurrency) on a corresponding website.
As a result, this investment company conducted consultations and made final fund transfers to various accounts. The perpetrators manipulated their victim in such a way that she installed software on her laptop and thus gave the perpetrators remote access to her hardware.
43 money transfers in ten months
The 89-year-old invested a very large amount of money between February and December 2023 and eventually filed the complaint together with family members. Police officers immediately recognized that the woman from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district was a victim of investment fraud (cyber trading fraud).
