On Saturday evening, police officers discovered damage to the Israeli flag flown in front of Graz Castle. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution is investigating.
Unknown perpetrators damaged an Israeli flag hoisted in front of Graz Castle on Saturday evening. As part of the special monitoring measures for the conflict in the Middle East, a patrol from the standby unit noticed that the flag’s tension cord was damaged and that the flag also showed a burn hole, probably from a cigarette.
The investigation is being conducted by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism, police said.
Flag at town hall damaged
In early November, two men damaged the Israeli flag with a knife, which hung on one of the four flagpoles in front of Graz’s city hall. The two had climbed a scaffolding to reach the flag. As a result, the flag was taken down during the night.
