What started as a side project of 24-year-old Viennese Julian Pomper is the new favorite app on Apple mobile phones for many drivers in Austria and Germany: the “Spritkenig” application shows users with just a few clicks where fuel is available nearby is and where it is cheapest.
Especially in times like these, with record fuel prices in Austria taking the proverbial “white out” of the eyes of commuters and other people who depend on cars for fueling and refueling.
“None was so user-friendly”
“I developed the app in 2019 when I was doing my basic military service in beautiful Salzburg, more precisely in St. Johann im Pongau”, Pomper recalls the beginning of his little digital helper for the smartphone in an interview with “Krone”. And further: “There were other applications back then, but none were as user-friendly as I imagined.”
25,000 users so far in Austria and Germany
The professional app developer offers a free version to download and an even more detailed version for a monthly fee. The app will be available on Android phones soon. Pomper: “I’m looking for another partner who can program it!”
