The fact that several illegal dumpling factories have been tracked down in Vienna in recent years has apparently not deterred the owners of an abandoned Asian restaurant. Because another production facility in Vienna-Floridsdorf has now been discovered – as many as 700 kilograms of dumplings have been seized.
On Tuesday, the police, the market office and the group for immediate measures were notified of the abandoned restaurant in Floridsdorf. The ready-made dumplings in all kinds of flavors were stored in three large freezers. All food was confiscated by the market office.
“Unsanitary Conditions”
“This time we found what we were looking for in an abandoned Asian restaurant. The kitchen was closed, the former guest room, which was not easy to see, had been converted into a dumpling kitchen. As in previous cases, food was illegally processed into dumplings under unsanitary conditions. These were intended for resale and were temporarily confiscated,” explains Andreas Kutheil, director of the Market Office of the City of Vienna.
Several complaints followed against the operators of this illegal dumpling factory.
Tons of illegal dumplings seized
Just last year, a number of illegal dumpling production facilities in Vienna were arrested. Several tons of food had to be confiscated, some of which had been produced under extremely unsanitary conditions. Several people were also arrested during the checks.
