A tragedy in the Mühlviertel could have gone unnoticed for hours. On Sunday afternoon, relatives found the body of a 33-year-old young farmer. Apparently he had been suffocated. Research is now underway to determine the exact cause.
Around noon, the fire brigades from Klaffer and Ulrichsberg were called to a farm in Klaffer am Hochficht: a fire was suspected.
Died from smoke inhalation?
The body of the 33-year-old was in the residential unit, where the father also lives in his own apartment on the farm. He likely died of smoke inhalation, probably hours before he was discovered. The fire had already gone out on its own, the victim had already been rescued – the emergency doctor could only conclude that the young construction worker was dead.
Fire experts are currently looking for the cause of the fire in the apartment, which has severely affected the rooms and left everything covered in soot. At this point there is only speculation, ranging from cigarette burns to a faulty battery. According to the current state of the investigation, foul play has been ruled out.
