Thomas Seidl-Baresch from Vöcklabruck wants to cover almost 700 kilometers in just eleven days. It goes from Bregenz to Vienna and for good reason.
The plan itself sounds crazy. Thomas Seidl-Baresch (49) wants to move from Bregenz to Vienna. That is almost 700 kilometers and an altitude of about 5000 meters. And as if the route itself wasn’t challenging enough, the man from Vöcklabruck wants to complete it in just eleven days.
Thunderstorms on the first day
And then nature shows no mercy. Because on the first day, on May 16, he was hit by a thunderstorm shortly after Bregenz. The consequences: blisters on the feet. But Seidl-Baresch did not give up for a second and continued his plan. On Tuesday he finally reached Linz.
Blisters the biggest problem
“The blisters are treated professionally twice a day. Actually, there is no place on the feet where there is not yet a blister’, says son Nico (17), who supports his father on his adventure.
Eleven days is not enough
But one thing seems certain: Seidl-Baresch will not reach Vienna in eleven days. “We lost some time because there were problems with the coordination of the support vehicle,” said Nico Seidl-Baresch.
Donations for SOS Children’s Villages
And why all this? Thomas Seidl-Baresch raises money for the SOS Children’s Villages. Donations can be made through the website (www.thomasseidl-baresch.at) or in the donation box on the tour bus when you meet Thomas Seidl-Baresch on his forced march through Austria.
