Singing in a choir – It’s about joy, not about religion

Date:

When the bells of the St. Sebastian’s Church in Hard call for a high mass on Christmas Day at 10 a.m., the heart of choir conductor Renate Hartlmayr-Jenni beats faster. For them, Christmas is a special and incredibly intense time. That’s why she doesn’t celebrate her own personal Christmas until January 7 – just like the Orthodox Church.

Renate Hartlmayr-Jenni has been conductor of the “Chor St. Sebastian Hard” for fifteen years, as the church choir in the lakeside parish has been calling itself for a few years now. The Hörbranzer, mother of three adult sons, is very motivated, also because this choir has been around for over a hundred years. “I am committed to this tradition and to the work of all choir directors before me.”
