As part of a special operation, a taxi driver was checked by state transport department officials late on Saturday evening in the area of Vienna’s Rathausplatz. The 28-year-old driver was currently on driving duty, but did not have a textile driving license or a valid driver’s license. The man also used drugs. His car keys were taken away.
When the taxi driver was checked, suspicion of drug abuse was immediately discovered. However, the taxi driver refused to be taken to the doctor.
Keys were taken from taxi drivers
He was forbidden to drive any further and his car key was taken away, the Viennese police reported on Monday. “The official act resulted in fourteen administrative criminal charges against the 28-year-old Austrian citizen,” the executive said.
Intensified before Christmas
Especially before Christmas, the city police command and the state traffic service are increasingly out in the center of Vienna to keep a close eye on car traffic. Particular attention is paid to any impairments of vehicle drivers caused by alcohol and/or addictive substances.
