Alarm on Friday afternoon: A German woman has driven away from the police on German territory. The reason for the flight: The car was probably stolen. At Balderschwang the German (53) crossed the border to Vorarlberg. The Austrian police were immediately alerted.

The German government was still after the fugitives. Eventually the woman was apprehended in Alberschwende in the direction of Schwarzenberg. Eyewitnesses reported that shots were fired. As police spokesman Rainer Fitz explained to the “Krone”, both German and Austrian police officers fired several times at the getaway car’s body and tires, but the driver was not injured.

After the German was forced to pull over, she locked herself in the car and took pills. Eventually, officers smashed the window and arrested the woman. She was then flown by helicopter to the hospital. The streets, which have since been closed, were finally reopened shortly after 4 p.m. Although the large-scale operation on site has now ended, the investigations and inventories are still in full swing.

It is now also clear: the woman was wanted in both Germany and Austria. Some police vehicles were damaged during the wild chase and one officer suffered a minor finger injury.
