Many roadblocks – activists on the highway! Rad Demo in Innsbruck

The “Fridays for Future” climate protection movement blocks the Inn Valley Autobahn on Friday with a large -scale climate demo. The organizers expect thousands of participants and set requirements.

At a good 30 degrees, cyclists gathered from 2 p.m. on the Innsbruck Landhaupplatz. They were looking for a shady place among the few trees to listen to the speakers.

In the beginning, the organizers called to let the demonstration go violently and peacefully and to follow the instructions of the police.

The young activist Magda from Friday for the future made it clear on stage: “We will get our place back with today’s action.” The addressee of the campaign was also the German Bundestag. The activist on stage emphasized that you cannot scream so loudly so that you are heard in the Bundestag, while at the same time called to participate in a petition with a QR code.

The demands of the activists are clear: they want the fastest possible implementation of the Brenner North to run after the use of the German Bundestag had already been committed. They also want to move the transport of goods and people to the rails. “More space for cyclists and on foot in the public space” is a different requirement.

From young to old among the demonstrators
A local inspection shows that not only young activists belong to cyclists on Landhauplatz. Pensionist Andreas van Innsbruck was on site with his band Street Noise Orchestra and says: “I sold my car four years ago. You don’t need it in Innsbruck.” His biggest annoyance are angry drivers: “They often have the 1.5 meters away and not relentlessly left.

Birgit also participates in the demonstration. For them it is about setting a common sign: “Cyclists are on the street at the bottom of the frespyramid. You have to take an example of the Netherlands. The importance of cyclists is already greater.”

The demonstration (registered with the police) took place at 2 p.m. At Innsbrucker Landhaupplatz and goes over the highway and ends at the starting point again around 5 pm.

Innbruck lock
The police go out with delays, but with the help of barriers and distractions, they hope to be able to properly control the volume of traffic. In the period between 1 and approximately 6.30 pm, the Executive delays calculated on the low and high -ranking road network and in the urban area.

Follow the demo will be different locks. The first lock comes into effect from 1 p.m.: the exit of the Zenzenhof Junction on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) to Innsbruck is closed to illuminate the detour routes. The detour leads via the Innsbruck-Süd Junction. Subsequently, the right strip is blocked shortly before the Amras tunnel in the direction of Bregenz, it said. The driveway of the Innsbruck-East remains passable, but the detour then takes place via the A13.

After the Amras tunnel, the A12 was completely blocked to Bregenz. The Innsbruck-Mitte-Rit to Bregenz will not be passable from around 1.30 p.m. Moreover, until 6.30 pm according to the executive between the Wilten Tunnel and the Innsbruck-Mitte Junction to Kufstein, a traffic routering with one lane with speed limitations applies.
