The erratic weather and especially the heavy storm will cause numerous missions in Tyrol on Friday. The technicians of the state-owned company Tinetz in particular have been working at full speed since the night hours to maintain or restore the power supply. Three Tyrolean towns were cut off from the outside world after the storm.
The bad weather front with strong local gusts of wind that had already been announced in advance led to numerous deployments of Tinetz’s installation teams on Friday evening. The area around Lake Achensee and the districts of Kufstein and Kitzbühel were particularly affected.
“The Stubai Valley was also without power for a short time on Friday morning after a tree fell into a high-voltage power line. However, our teams were able to repair the damage very quickly,” says Tinetz Operations Manager Hannes Knoll.
12,000 households without electricity
The 110kV line between Imst and Reutte was also briefly interrupted. Here too, a tree had to be cut down first. In the afternoon there were also several missions in East Tyrol. The Niederndorferberg area was still without supplies in the afternoon. The Tinetz teams were initially unable to reach the sources of the interference – also for safety reasons.
In total, up to 12,000 households in Tyrol were without electricity.
Places that are not accessible by road
There were also road closures due to fallen trees – for example in the Reutte district. “Currently, the L268, Kaiserer Straße, between Steeg and Kaisers, the L267 (Gramaiser Straße) from the Häselgehr junction and the L266 (Bschlaber Straße) between the entrance to Elmen and the Boden district are closed to all traffic,” the state reported Tyrol in the afternoon.
The communities of Kaisers, Gramais and Pfafflar, including the districts of Boden and Bschlabs, are therefore temporarily inaccessible by road.
Clean-up work too dangerous
“Due to the ongoing showers and the associated risk of further falling trees, cleaning work cannot be carried out in some areas at this time for safety reasons,” the report said. The closures are expected to last through Saturday.
