Panic has spread in the Charles University of Prague and its tourist area when David K., a 24-year-old student, started shooting indiscriminately at his classmates from the Faculty of Philosophy. The alleged perpetrator of the shooting committed suicide after the attack.
At least 14 people have died and more 25 have been injurednine of which are of a serious nature, for example to shoot committed this Thursday in a faculty in the center of Pragueaccording to local emergency services, which also confirmed the death of the alleged shooter.
The attack took place at Carolina University, located in the Jan Palach Square. Police announced on social networks the evacuation of the entire building, a slow procedure as some students had locked themselves in to avoid the gunman.

As indicated by the Chief of Police of the Czech Republic, Martin Vondrasek, during a press conference, the police received information about a 24-year-old young man around 12:45 p.m., a resident of the Czech city of Houston, who traveled to Prague with the intention of taking his own life. Later, the police reportedly received another report of a death in the city of Houston. ‘We soon found out that it was the suspect’s father“, has explained.
Initial investigations show that he acted alone and that this attack, the largest in the history of the Czech Republic, has no terrorist background.
For his part, the Prime Minister, Peter Fiala, has announced the cancellation of his official agenda in the city of Olomouc and his return to the capital in light of next Thursday’s “tragic events”. He has asked all citizens to follow police recommendations, a call also endorsed by Interior Minister Vit Rakusan, who will appear in the area.
