Parish in Vienna-Döbling mourns the loss of its oldest altar boy, who is one of the victims of the Prague shooting. As has only now become known, among the fourteen people murdered at Charles University was a Czech living in Vienna.
34-year-old Adam Jurak lived in a room in the parsonage “and was one of the assets of the parish of Döbling,” Kathpress reported on Sunday.

There was not a festive service where he did not wave the censer or lead the way with the cross. In addition, the deceased was considered a “helpful helper who enjoyed creating a cheerful atmosphere at parish celebrations with Czech beer or homemade punch,” the report said.
Jurak has been studying in his native city of Prague in recent weeks to complete his Czech-German interpreting studies.
“Gone from us far too soon”
“We cannot believe that Adam was in the wrong place at the wrong time and had to leave us far too soon,” the parish website said.
