The owners of various restaurants and shops in the chic ski area Lech am Arlberg (Vorarlberg) are not very keen: a Swiss man was throwing cash around there. Ultimately it turned out that the banknotes were counterfeit.
A 33-year-old Swiss citizen put counterfeit money into circulation with a face value of several thousand euros in Lech am Arlberg. At the end of March he spent three days in the chic Vorarlberg ski resort and paid his bills in cash.
Thousands of euros
However, an alert nightclub employee became concerned about the authenticity of the money and alerted the police. Subsequently, 59 counterfeit 50 euro notes and 15 counterfeit 100 euro notes were discovered.
According to police, the flowers were seized from operators of various locations and from companies with which the 33-year-old had had contact. The majority of these notes can be attributed to the 33-year-old, it was said. He is reported to the Feldkirch public prosecutor’s office.
