An 18-year-old is said to have insulted, threatened and beaten his mother for years. He even set his dog on the 64-year-old. And his grandmother was not spared either – although the young Viennese was acquitted of this…
It is a wild accusation that the prosecutor at the Vienna Regional Court is putting forward: persistent violence, dangerous threats, attempted theft. “The whole case is based on a very violent dispute within the family,” the prosecutor explains. An 18-year-old is said to have insulted, threatened and beaten his own mother for years.
The suspect was always said to have been a problem child
“He was never a good person,” a 64-year-old said of her own son on the witness stand. “It started when I was 15 or 16 years old. The bigger he got, the worse it got.” The now 18-year-old is said to have caused problems at school and constantly had to pay extra for extra lessons. He never tried to get a job.
Also violence against the grandmother
“How many times did he hit her?” Mr Rat wants to know from the pensioner. “Enough,” was the short answer. The young Viennese also threatened his mother: ‘I will kill you, old man… You have already lived long enough.’ The 64-year-old is said to have almost experienced violence from her son. every day – until she had enough: she threw the defendant out and he stayed with his grandmother.
And he allegedly used the same tone against the 86-year-old and also hit her. He also dropped off his dog – a young husky – at his grandmother’s house. The old lady is now shaking in the witness box in front of the judge and has difficulty understanding him. But her interrogation does not last long: she tearfully announces that she does not want to testify against her grandson.
But the 18-year-old’s mother provides even more detailed insight into the more than disrupted family life. Money would also have been a big topic: “He comes in at night and knocks on the door and shouts: give me money! Give me money!” The police have been there several times and the property manager has also complained.
“She hits me and then I defend myself”
The suspect only comments on his mother’s statement by shaking his head and laughing dismissively. He always just wanted to defend himself against the 64-year-old: “Normally she has to take tablets, but she doesn’t take them. She pushes me, she hits me and then I defend myself. My dog is also a problem. She doesn’t like him.’ She is said to have fabricated the large number of violent incidents.
Suspension of sentence for 18 year olds
“More than unbelievable,” says not only the prosecutor, but also the jury. The young Viennese receives an 18-month suspended prison sentence for violence against his mother. His attorney immediately files an appeal and an annulment complaint. He has been legally cleared of the allegations against his grandmother – after all, she did not want to accuse her grandson…
