The young Tyrolean has been addicted to heavy drugs for several months. When given the opportunity to consume, she usually takes it. “Our daughter was taken to the hospital several times in an unstable condition due to an overdose of various substances. After she was stabilized, she was transferred to the psychiatric ward for further treatment. But she was released the same day because, according to the doctors, there is no longer any danger. was for themselves whether others and children from the age of 14 can decide for themselves whether to receive treatment or not”, describe the parents.

Parents hear the same answer over and over again
Stays in hospitals and psychiatric wards, with the police and with counseling centers are therefore part of the daily routine of these parents. “A normal life is out of the question, it’s hell,” they emphasize. Conversations between the parents and the doctors, lawyers, responsible judges and Co. were always concluded with the same statement: you may not detain anyone by law against the will of a person in Austria.

The doctors also say again and again that therapy without the will of the child is useless. “That’s certainly true,” Emilia’s parents say.

“Everything Started Again”
Keep in mind, however, that young people with such a strong drug addiction are on the same developmental level as preschoolers when it comes to certain things, such as understanding their environment, danger, risk, or responsibility.

“This is also confirmed by our daughter’s child psychiatrists. Often it is only a short period of time that is needed for the child to think clearly and have access to it again, so that there is also the chance that he will go into therapy. But before our daughter ever got to this point, she would always come home and start all over,” the parents reveal.

“Half dizzying, we had to take her back”
The legislator hereby transfers the responsibility “totally onto the parents”. “From the discussions with the doctors, we have learned that they would be quite willing to put the young people in a normal state for a period of time, even under duress, in order to at least have access to therapy, which is according to the law. not allow them.” , emphasize the parents. “We fought with all our might against the constant layoffs from child psychiatry, but in vain. Still half wavering, we had to take our daughter home. The law in force here is absolutely obsolete – at a time when cell phones, social media and the dark web are becoming increasingly important.

“Everything in society is far too social”
It is much easier to obtain strong medicines today than it was twenty years ago. The young people are well organized and know all the tricks of the trade. “They mainly know their rights, but not their duties. And we criticize that everything in our society is way too social. Always understanding and caring for everything lovingly leads the young people to know that nothing will happen to them anyway – no matter what they do. The problem, however, is that at some point the affected children and young people no longer have a clear mind. Then only a coercive measure will help to keep them off the coffin in the cemetery. In principle, the state here acts as an aid to self-destruction.”
