During a key inspection by the financial police in the ski areas of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, a veritable flood of reports came in. A total of 126 administrative fines have been issued and approximately 150,000 fines imposed.
As the Ministry of Finance announced, numerous violations were punished during the focus inspection of the financial police. A total of 126 advertisements have been placed in the ski areas of both states. In addition, 15 cash register violations were noted. In total, the companies must pay fines of around 150,000 euros.
Juicy extra payments
In the current winter season, officials monitored the ski areas. This includes ski instructors and ski schools, restaurants, accommodation companies and cable car employees. Many companies may not have properly registered their employees. A total of 62 reports were made. The companies must expect hefty fines.
There was a particularly daring case involving a Romanian who offered ski lessons in the Kitzbühel region via social media. The man was not registered under commercial law, social security or taxes. There was also no registration with the Tyrolean Ski Instructors Association.
Major events also had an influence
Another 64 reports were made during checks during sporting events such as the Ski World Cup in Kitzbühel or the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen. Eight cash register violations were also identified.
