Drama in Krippenstein: A nine-year-old from Germany was skiing with his two siblings and parents in Upper Austria on Monday when he suffered a serious fall: the boy slid into rocky terrain covered with little snow and his helmet broke during the fall.
During this holiday, everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong for the family on holiday from Germany. A nine-year-old boy again rode the Krippenstein valley descent to Obertraun together with his siblings and parents.
At an altitude of 1,910 meters above sea level, the boy fell onto the edge of the slope and slid slightly to the left into the flat, rocky terrain that was currently covered with only a little snow. His helmet broke.
Mother provided first aid
The injured man’s mother and members of the snow rescue team provided first aid to the boy. The weather did not cooperate during the rescue by the emergency medical helicopter. Due to the strong wind, the rescue helicopter was unable to land directly at the accident site.
The emergency doctor was therefore first taken to the injured nine-year-old in a snowmobile. The emergency helicopter then flew the boy to the hospital.
