Dramatic scenes in Pichl near Wels. A smoke detector woke a woman from her sleep around 4 a.m. Not a second too late, because a piece of furniture in her apartment had caught fire. Four fire departments arrived and had to rescue the woman from the apartment.
It was the beeping of a smoke detector in the house that probably saved the woman’s life. She woke up around 4 a.m., discovered the fire and alerted emergency services.
Four fire brigades in action
Four fire brigades from the Pichl area near Wels immediately arrived on scene. Emergency services were able to bring the woman to safety with the help of a ladder
The fire was quickly located and extinguished. The cupboard that had caught fire was taken outside and eventually extinguished.

The rescued resident was treated by emergency services. The fire was probably started by a forgotten peace lamp that had been on the cupboard and apparently had not been extinguished before the woman went to bed.
