On Saturday in the early morning hours in Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse (Pinzgau), a little girl became a real lifesaver. After detecting a fire, the fire brigade was immediately alerted.
The girl slept with her grandfather in the basement of a single-family home. Suddenly, the smell of smoke invaded her senses, prompting her to immediately call the fire department at 3 a.m.
“She behaved very exemplary and immediately received the first fire truck,” says Christian Plaickner, commander of the Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse volunteer fire brigade.
The girl’s quick response saved the family from a life-threatening situation.
Sauna as a source of fire
The fire brigade was able to intervene quickly on site. In a building that was now completely filled with smoke, firefighters brought the girl, her sister, her father and her grandfather to safety.
Particularly dramatic was the rescue of two people who had to be rescued with a ladder from the second floor due to heavy smoke development.
Four people in hospital
The focus was on the sauna room as the smoke source, with the flames quickly extinguished. All four residents of the house were taken by the Red Cross to the Schwarzach (Pongau) and Zell am See (Pinzgau) hospitals.
The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not yet known and are being investigated by the investigating authorities.
