The rescuers in the Tyrolean mountains had their hands full on Saturday. A skiing accident and two tobogganing accidents resulted in a total of three injuries. In one case, the emergency medical helicopter was also needed.
The first accident happened around 1:30 p.m. At the entrance to a chairlift in the Seekogel Valley in Sölden, an unknown skier collides with a 15-year-old skier from Germany. “The woman struck the teen from behind, knocking him to the ground,” the director said. The skier apologized to the 15-year-old and continued skiing.
The teenager suffered a broken bulge in his right arm in the accident and had to be rescued by the pister rescue team.
Crashed into a fence with a sled
Also at 1:30 p.m., a German woman (56) was tobogganing in Reith near Kitzbühel from the Astbergbahn mountain station along the toboggan path towards the valley. “For unknown reasons she lost control of the sled,” the researchers said. As a result, the woman drove onto the fence of the toboggan run without braking. She suffered a serious foot injury. The emergency medical helicopter took her to the hospital in St. Johann.
Toboggan collided with a fallen toboggan
The third accident happened around 3:30 p.m. A Dutch woman (23) fell on a toboggan run in Sölden due to unknown causes. “A 20-year-old Dutchman who was riding on a sled could no longer avoid it and collided with the woman,” the police said. The 23-year-old suffered an injury to her lower leg. She was rescued by the Sölden pister rescue service.
