A serious accident occurred in Gnas, in southern Styria, on Wednesday afternoon. A car overturned and landed on its roof. The driver, a 62-year-old, had to be flown to hospital.
Shortly before 4 p.m. an accident took place on Gnaserstraße, L 211: a driver left the road. She hit a water culvert, rolled over and came to rest lying on the roof. The fire brigade association from the Feldbach area provides information about this.
The woman was trapped in her vehicle. Firefighters, emergency physicians, Red Cross and first responders worked together to free them. The injured person was flown to the LKH University Hospital in Graz with the Christophorus 12 helicopter.
Road closed for two hours
The Grabersdorf and Obergnas volunteer fire brigades were deployed with 23 emergency services. During the rescue and clean-up work, Gnaserstrasse was closed to all traffic until 6 p.m. The cause of the accident is the subject of a police investigation.
