Three people in distress – fell in the Saalach after a Harley meeting

Date:

Three people had to be rescued early Friday morning in Hinterglemm in the Pinzgau in Salzburg. A woman had fallen into the Saalach, two men jumped in and were also in danger.

On the way home from a Harley meeting in Hinterglemm on Monday, there was a fatal fall. A woman fell into the Saalach and drifted away. Two men wanted to help her and also jumped into the stream.

Concrete walls as an obstacle
Because it currently carries a lot of water and has concrete walls in this area, it was not possible for the trio to save themselves from the water. The alarm went off around 3:30 am. When emergency services arrived, the woman held on to a rock while the two men clung desperately to bushes.

Two people, who were in the cold water for about half an hour, suffered minor injuries and had to be transported to the hospital in Zell am See hypothermic.

The operation was difficult for the fire brigade, as there had been five missing persons in the meantime. The emergency services therefore occupy the Saalach bridges downstream in order to provide assistance. In the end, however, only three people were found to be affected.
