An employee at a hospital in Vienna-Favoriten raised the alarm after seeing the serious injuries suffered by a woman and her daughter during an examination. The 28-year-old and her 11-year-old daughter came to the hospital alone on Saturday with injuries consistent with blunt force, police announced on Sunday. The father is also said to have behaved aggressively towards his other 13-year-old daughter in the past.
The 36-year-old man and father of Afghan nationality is suspected of beating and attacking his wife and the two girls. The relatives provided different information during the first interviews by officers of the Favoriten city police command. The suspect denies all accusations.

The 36-year-old was banned from entering and approaching the building, as well as a temporary weapons ban. He is at large on suspicion of persistent violence and bodily harm.

On Sunday evening there was another incident of domestic violence in Vienna-Favoriten: a 31-year-old allegedly tried to enter the apartment of his 35-year-old ex-girlfriend. The Austrian is also said to have threatened to kill her. The alerted police officers from the Favoriten city police command were able to temporarily arrest the suspect in front of the apartment. He was also banned from entering and approaching the building, as well as a temporary weapons ban. He is being held by the police.
