A woman (60) from Söchau (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district) discovered several animal traps on Monday afternoon – including a dangerous ‘trigger bar’. A man confessed.
It would be a nightmare for all pet owners: you go looking for the cat or dog and find the animal seriously injured. Fortunately, this was prevented in Söchau on Monday. A woman (60) was looking for her cats around 2 p.m.
Behind a pile of wood she suddenly discovered a so-called trigger bar. If you activate the trap, it will close and cause the animals terrible pain. The woman also found two live traps: small cages that close once the animal is inside.
As she tried to pull the trigger, the woman’s collar became tangled in the trap. The 60-year-old called a hunter and he was able to free the dog unharmed.
Man confessed
Police were able to identify a 59-year-old as the owner of the traps. They were located near his property on the edge of the forest.
Police say he placed the traps to protect his poultry and rabbit farms from predators. The man is reported.
