After the farmers’ protests in Germany, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev mocked the German government. He describes Chancellor Olaf Scholz as a ‘liverwurst’ and predicts serious problems for the country.
“Strikes in Germany: Farmers have blockaded large parts of the country. Subsidies have stopped and the astronomical amounts spent on Ukraine continue to rise. Germany is the main donor,” Medvedev wrote on the social network X.
If things continue like this, Ukrainian nationalists could soon export their popular protests (“Maidan”) to Berlin.
‘Hemic interest’ in events
“In that case, it is very doubtful whether the liverwurst Scholz (German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, ed.) will last,” he mocks. In any case, Russia will follow events with “malicious interest.”

Medvedev borrowed the term “liverwurst” for German Chancellor Scholz from a statement by the former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andrij Melnyk.
After Scholz canceled a trip to Kiev in solidarity with uninvited President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Melnyk accused Scholz last year of “playing the insulted liverwurst.”
Since the outbreak of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Medvedev has been considered one of the hardliners.
Moscow repeatedly argues that Western aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, for example, have led to economic problems in Germany.
