Once again, careless behavior led to a rescue operation by helicopter. At the Silvretta Montafon ski resort in Vorarlberg, a 47-year-old German was in open terrain as dusk fell when he lost a ski and slipped on the steep terrain.
On Monday around 4:45 p.m., the 47-year-old man from Germany left St. Gallenkirch in the Silvretta Montafon ski area for his final descent in the free ski area towards Valisera Mitte. The German moved further and further away from the marked piste, lost a ski on a ridge and slipped into steep forest terrain before returning to a small, flat clearing after about 100 metres.
Companion makes emergency call – police helicopter arrives
An emergency call was made via a companion who was on the slopes. As dusk fell, the German was eventually rescued with a rope by the crew of the Libelle police helicopter. He was dropped off unharmed at the middle station of the Valisera train.
