Several new cases of bird flu have been registered in Burgenland in recent days. Both wild birds and animals on individual farms have become ill.
The virus was found in wild birds as well as in individual companies, Deputy State Governor Astrid Eisenkopf (SPÖ) reported on Wednesday. With the help of a new tool on the state website, Burgenlanders should now be able to find out whether their community is in a risk area and where stables are mandatory.
Map shows risk areas
The interactive map shows the affected risk areas and offers the possibility to search for communities. The goal is “to contain the epidemic quickly and efficiently,” Eisenkopf emphasizes. Stables are currently mandatory in the districts of Neusiedl am See, Mattersburg, Güssing and Jennersdorf, as well as in the Free City of Rust and in some places in the districts of Oberpullendorf and Eisenstadt surroundings. Bird flu does not pose a health risk to humans.
