A Somali man was sentenced to prison after a brutal fight at Dornbirn train station. On Wednesday, his accomplice, a young Pole, was also handed the ticket for his crime.
He does not remember how much alcohol the now 21-year-old suspect drank that evening. But he probably later wanted to settle the dispute between a 34-year-old acquaintance from Croatia and a Somali at the Dornbirn train station. After an initial scuffle, things escalated and the Croatian ended up with a bruised head and traumatic brain injury.
Binge drinking
But right from the start: after a drinking session in a city center bar, the Croat promises to get the other two cocaine for 100 euros. But the Somali becomes suspicious and follows him to the bus station. After minutes of discussion between the two, the fight breaks out.
When the star blue Pole arrives shortly afterwards and holds the Croat to the ground, the Somali repeatedly kicks the victim in the head with full force. 26 times in total! Only when the Pole releases the bloody man will his martyrdom come to an end.
Per Video evidence transferred
While the Somali was later sentenced to a partial prison term of two years for intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, the Pole remained untouched for a long time. However, due to the recordings of the video camera at the bus station, he is ultimately convicted and charged as an accomplice.
During the trial, the 21-year-old confessed. “Why didn’t you release the victim so she could protect herself?” asks prosecutor Konstanze Manhart. Answer: “I was afraid he would continue to strike. I just wanted it to stop.”
Shortly afterwards, the previously innocent man was found guilty and sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of seven months and an unconditional fine of 4,500 euros.
