On a chicken farm in Styria, a number of animals were run over by a tractor and left to fend for themselves. The people responsible for the company – father and son – will soon face criminal court.
These images will send shivers down your spine: an employee of a chicken farm in Styria with an AMA quality mark races through a stable in a tractor and crushes several animals without taking into account any losses. Some are still shaking in pain and dragging their feet, but instead of being relieved, they are left to their sad fate. Animal rights activists from the Association Against Animal Factories (VGT) filmed these and many other shocking scenes and made them public.
Even more scandalous scenes from Styrian AMA-certified stables came to light. The Graz public prosecutor also got involved.
AMA is also in the crosshairs of the judiciary
It is now clear: in the case of the tractor scandal, the stable operators – father and son – will have to appear before the criminal court on March 7. “The Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a criminal complaint,” spokesperson Christian Kroschl confirms in response to a “Steirekrone” request. The investigation against another operator has been stopped, and the investigation against two other stables is still ongoing.
After the madness came to light, well-known lawyer and animal rights activist Gerald Ruhri also filed a complaint against the AMA for fraud. “In this case we are investigating the initial suspicions,” says Kroschl. The outcome of the above procedure is decisive.
