Fuss about cardinal – Pope employee criticized for ‘orgasm book’.

Date:

Argentine Cardinal Victor Fernandez is currently causing a stir in conservative circles with erotic literature. The cleric, who has been Pope Francis’ main guardian of the faith since last year, wrote a book in his younger years in which he describes the “path to an orgasm”.

A penis “as hard and straight as a spear”: such graphic descriptions are known from erotic literature. But this name was used by the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in a 1998 book entitled “The Mystical Passion. Spirituality and sensuality”. In his position as the supreme guardian of the faith in the Vatican, this work will now be Fernandez’s undoing.

Wild sex scene on the sandy beach
The chief dogmatist, who has often written speeches for the Pope in the past, describes a “crazy love story” in nine chapters of the book, which also includes an unbridled erotic scene on a sandy beach. Among other things, people talk about the ‘road to an orgasm’.

Penis in the “war on the vagina”
For example, the 15th-century Egyptian Muslim theologian Al Sounouti is favorably quoted in the work. He explained that God designed the penis “as hard and straight as a spear” to “wage war against the vagina.” According to the book, women’s climaxes are different from men’s: the female orgasm is “usually insatiable.”

Critics accused the cleric of promoting “pornocracy” by linking orgasms to spirituality.

Another work describes “The Art of Kissing”
Another book, published by Fernandez in 1995, can almost be seen as a prelude. Under the title “Heal me with your mouth. The Art of Kissing,” the guardian of the faith advised young couples to “dedicate themselves for a long time to the sublime art of kissing, which sustains love.” Under no circumstances should one ‘always look for the sexual act’. He also engages in variations on the erotic kiss.

Cardinal rowed back after threatening letters
Both books would probably not attract so much negative attention if the cardinal did not hold one of the most important positions in the Vatican. According to the Italian newspaper ‘La Stampa’ he received threatening letters with the message ‘We will destroy you’.

Fernandez recently distanced himself from his literary work almost three decades ago: he would certainly no longer write such books today, he told the American portal ‘Crux’. Shortly after the book was published, he ceased further publication. He never agreed to new editions, but these were distributed without his knowledge or permission.

It is not the first time that the cleric, who is a compatriot of the pope, has been criticized by conservatives. At the end of last year, the religious authority released a statement allowing gay couples to be blessed for the first time. Fernandez justified this move: Documents like these would not cause division in the church, they would only expose it. Hate against the LGBTQ movement is blasphemy: it is sacrilege to “receive intercourse with hatred in your heart or to accept someone being imprisoned or murdered simply because of their sexual orientation.”
