Skier wanted – snowboarder crashed into piste sign

First, a snowboarder collided with a skier in Lech on Thursday, then collided with a board that had been set up at the edge of the slopes. Police are now looking for the skier, who alerted rescue services but did not release his details.

A 27-year-old snowboarder was on the blue slope 201 in the chic Lech ski area on Thursday morning around 11:35 am. Next to him a skier made his turns. For reasons still unclear, the snowboarder ran over the skier’s skis, causing both of them to fall.

But while the skier was unhurt, the snowboarder crashed into a piste board. He seriously injured his knee.

The skier asked the injured man how he was doing and promised to alert the piste rescue team. For this purpose he continued his journey towards Rud-Alpe. The man kept his promise and the pister rescue team cared for the injured man.

However, the skier did not provide his details and continued skiing after the emergency services were alerted.

The unknown person and witnesses to the accident are now asked to contact the Lech police station (+43 (0) 59 133 8105).
