At the last minute, two police officers became life-saving during a fire

A residential building in Linz-Keferfeld caught fire early on Sunday morning. The flames spread so quickly that two people could not leave the house on their own. Two resourceful police officers managed to rescue the two at the last minute using improvised ladders.

Sunday 5 a.m. fire alarm in Schwabengasse in Keferfeld in Linz. When emergency services arrived, flames were already shooting out of a window on the first floor of the house. Three people were able to leave the house independently, but two other residents were trapped by the flames.

Police officers offered encouragement
Two police officers helped the two from the ground to keep their cool and lean out of the window as far as possible to escape the dangerous smoke.

At the last minute, the two managed to rescue the two trapped people outside using a bench and makeshift ladders. After the first treatment, all five residents were taken to a hospital in Linz.

Fire quickly under control
The fire brigade’s respiratory protection teams quickly extinguished the fire in the house, while preventing the flames from outside from spreading via the facade to the roof.

The fire was then quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
