Basque airports end 2023 with record numbers in passengers and operations

Concerning the activitiesLast year’s figures were also exceeded. Gipuzkoa Airport recorded 6,155 landing and take-off movements (10.4% more), Biscay Airport 51,448 (14%) and Alava Airport 14,185 (6.3%).

The President and CEO of Aena, Maurici Lucenastressed in a statement that “these record figures in air transport are fundamental for the economic and social development of Spain.”

As for the Spanish state, the airports in the Aena network ended 2023 with a record 283.2 million passengers, surpassing by 2.9% the previous historical figure of over 275 million in 2019 before the pandemic, after a increase of 10.6% in the December period compared to the number four years ago.
