The Israeli military says it has so far “eliminated” about 9,000 terrorists from Islamist Hamas and other terrorist groups in the Gaza war. There are also more than 50 Hamas company commanders, 19 battalions and two brigade commanders.
Israel reportedly killed around 1,000 terrorists on Israeli soil and responded to their unprecedented attack with massive airstrikes and a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Nearly 24,000 people, fighters and civilians, have now been killed there, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. More than 1,200 people were killed and more than 240 others were taken hostage.
Netanyahu promises a “victory” over Hamas
On the occasion of the centenary of the war between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday to continue ‘until victory’.
“We have to fight this war and it will last for many months,” he told a government meeting. Meanwhile, fighting in the Gaza Strip continued, with Hamas speaking on Sunday of “more than 100” deaths across the Gaza Strip.
